В тот день тонкому полумесяцу было около 3 дней от роду. Но видимый, освещенный солнцем полумесяц Луны к 14 февраля превратится в яркую полную Луну. Как и Луна, Венера, вращаясь вокруг Солнца, меняет фазы. И хотя ее видимый, освещенный солнцем полумесяц сужается, видимый размер внутренней планеты увеличивается по мере приближения к Земле. В «Валентинке» Солнечной системы Венера, названная в честь римской богини любви, также достигнет своей максимальной яркости в вечернем небе планеты Земля около 14 февраля.
