Пояснение: Почему у кометы «АТЛАС» такие разноцветные хвосты? На прошлой неделе комета C/2024 G3 (ATLAS) пролетела ближе всего к Солнцу — внутри орбиты Меркурия — и стала заметно ярче. К сожалению, в то время комета находилась так близко к Солнцу, что людям было очень трудно ее увидеть. Но космический аппарат НАСА SOHO заметил это. На фото изображение кометы ATLAS, сделанное с помощью SOHO (LASCO C3), которое составлено с помощью нескольких различных цветных фильтров. Из нескольких видимых хвостов центральные белые хвосты, вероятно, состоят из пыли и просто отражают солнечный свет. Красный, синий и зеленый хвосты, вероятно, являются ионными, в их цветах преобладает свет, излучаемый определенными газами, которые были выброшены из кометы и подпитаны Солнцем.
