Пояснение: Почему Полярную звезду называют Полярной звездой? Во-первых, Полярная звезда является ближайшей яркой звездой к северной оси вращения Земли. Поэтому, когда Земля вращается, кажется, что звезды вращаются вокруг Полярной звезды, но сама Полярная звезда всегда находится в одном и том же северном направлении, что делает ее Полярной звездой. Поскольку ни одна яркая звезда не находится вблизи южной оси вращения Земли, в настоящее время нет ни одной яркой Южной звезды. Тысячи лет назад ось вращения Земли была направлена в несколько ином направлении, так что Вега была Полярной звездой. Хотя Полярная звезда не является самой яркой звездой на небе, ее легко найти, потому что она находится почти на одной линии с двумя звездами в чаше Большой Медведицы.
