<Пояснение: Комета «АТЛАС» сейчас очень яркая, но при этом находится очень близко к Солнцу. За пределами Солнечного сияния комета C/2024 G3 (ATLAS) станет одним из наиболее примечательных кометных объектов последних лет, отражая на Землю примерно столько же солнечного света, сколько комета Цучиншан-АТЛАС в октябре, и теперь соперничая даже с планетой Венера. Но гигантский снежный ком сейчас находится так близко к Солнцу, что его можно увидеть только в свете раннего утреннего рассвета или ранних вечерних сумерек. Сегодня комета «АТЛАС» находится в перигелии — самом близком к Солнцу за всю историю наблюдений. Хотя будущую яркость комет, как известно, трудно предсказать, есть надежда, что Comet ATLAS переживет свое близкое прохождение вблизи Солнца и останется достаточно яркой, чтобы ее можно было увидеть невооруженным глазом в течение следующих нескольких дней, а возможно, и в течение нескольких недель.
